Any student who has qualified Class XII (or equivalent) examination in science stream either in the year 2022 or 2023 can apply to the BS (four year) degree / BS- MS (five year) dual degree programs in IISERs provided the eligibility criteria are satisfied. Please click here to know more about the eligibility criteria. At present, the BS degree program is available only at IISER Bhopal. Also, for applying to any of the BS degree programs, students must have Mathematics as one of the subjects in class XII examinations.
Students who passed Class XII (or equivalent) in 2021 cannot apply. Only students who have passed out in 2022 or 2023 are eligible to apply.
Yes. You will have produce the result of the examination when the portal opens to upload documents and freeze IISER preferences. Failing this, you will not be considered for counselling.

Yes. You will be considered a foreign candidate. You can apply only through the JEE (Advanced) channel, provided you satisfy other eligibility criteria. Application of a foreign candidate through any channel other than JEE (Advanced) will be rejected.
Students are trained in various disciplines of basic sciences as per the designed curriculum of the respective IISERs during the formative years. Subsequently, they can take up specialized subjects. Please refer to the websites of individual IISERs for a description of their curriculum structure.
IISER Bhopal offers BS degree programs in Economic Sciences and Engineering Sciences. Students are trained in various disciplines of basic sciences and introductory courses in Economics/Engineering during the first year of study. There are three channels available for admission into IISERs:- (i). KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana), (ii). JEE (Advanced), and (iii) IAT (IISER Aptitude Test).

Yes. Candidates are required to first do the registration on application portal. Then, this registration account could be used to fill application form(s) of one or more of the three channels. Each channel requires a separate online application and payment of application fee. The candidate must meet the eligibility criteria for each channel through which they wish to apply.
The required percentage is 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade for GEN/OBC/OBC-NCL and 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade for SC/ST/PWD in class XII or equivalent exam.
There is a non-refundable application fee of Rs.2,000/- for candidates applying under General, EWS, and OBC-NCL categories, and Rs.1,000/- for persons with disabilities, persons registered as Kashmiri Migrants and candidates under SC/ST category. The application fee for foreign nationals is USD 100.
No. All payments will be accepted only through a secure online payment gateway on our application portal.

Yes, only if you are applying through the IAT channel.
Yes, you can apply and appear for IAT. But, you will be eligible for admissions only if you satisfy minimum eligibility criteria. Candidates, whose result of class XII (or equivalent) examination is awaited at the time of submission of application, can choose the "Result Awaited" option while filling the qualifying exam result. However, they must upload their marksheet on the application portal before counselling (see this). Marksheet uploading will not be allowed post deadline, and any incomplete application will not be considered for counselling.
A maximum of 25% of the seats will be allocated through KVPY and JEE (Advanced) channels. Remaining seats will be filled through the IAT channel. Unfilled seats from KVPY and JEE channels, if any, will also be added to the IAT channel for allotment.
No. Admission to IISERs, for each channel, is based on merit and the total number of available seats in respective channels in different IISERs.
You will be asked to indicate your preferences in the online application form.

Float option allows a candidate to be allotted an IISER/program that is higher on their preference list (if any) than the one allotted in the current round, in subsequent rounds (if any). During counselling, the float option has been enabled for all candidates.
If you are satisfied with the IISER/program allotted to you in any round and do not wish to float, you can freeze your offer upon the fee payment. Freeze option once exercised is final and cannot be changed under any circumstances.
You need to upload your original mark sheet in the application portal but the percentage in the application form should be the revised one. The revised marks statement from your board confirming the change of marks must be sent to ask-jac2023@iisermohali.ac.in with a subject line “Revised Marks”. You should also mention your application number in the subject line. Please check the timelines click here. Please note if the subject line is not as mentioned above, we may not be able to help you.
Once you have submitted your application, you will be allowed some windows at specified times where you can edit some information on your application. Check here for the details of the time windows. You will NOT be able to edit category (General/OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/KM) information after submitting the application.
Your application is not complete until you can download the pdf version of the filled application form after you make the payment (appropriate application fee). You must have at least one of the two subjects, Mathematics and Biology in the class XII level. Note that the questions in the IAT will be from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics with equal weightage. There are no subject specific cut-off marks, though.
The computer-based test will be available in Hindi and English.
It will be conducted in various cities across India. Choices for five preferred cities where the candidate wishes to write the aptitude test have to be indicated while completing the online application form. The hall ticket will have the allotted centre details printed. If the examination cannot be conducted in any of the centres due to unforeseen reasons, the candidate would be allotted an alternate centre, and such information will be communicated in due time.
The hall ticket will be available on the website a few days before the IISER aptitude test. The candidates can download their hall ticket after logging into their account in the application portal.
No, it is not mandatory for BS-MS degree programs. However, for admission to BS degree programs in Economic Sciences and Engineering sciences at IISER Bhopal, Mathematics as one of the subjects at class XII level is mandatory.

OBC-NCL stands for Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layers). If you belong to this category, then you must select OBC-NCL as your category. Note that the OBC-NCL certificate should be valid for the financial year 2023-24.
EWS stands for the Economically Weaker Sections. It applies to those candidates who satisfy the criteria of income and assets as laid out by the Government of India. Note that the EWS certificate should be valid for the financial year 2023-24.

Students admitted through the KVPY channel will be eligible for scholarships as per KVPY norms. Students admitted through JEE (Advanced) and IAT channels will be eligible for a limited number of INSPIRE scholarships as per the norms of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
No. IISERs are fully residential campuses and students are required to stay in campus hostels.
Depending on your rank and seats available in a particular channel, you may be considered for allocation in a later round. The candidates must keep periodically checking the admission website for updates.

If you have been allotted to one of the IISERs, you need to pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (within the due date) through the counselling portal in order to accept the offer and confirm that you intend to join one of the IISERs. The Seat Acceptance Fee amounts can be found here.
Yes. Withdrawal is possible ONLY through the counselling portal. You can withdraw by the stipulated date. There is no cancellation fee if withdrawal is made within this time. However, bank charges, if any, will apply.
You must accept the offer by paying the Seat Acceptance Fees, as mentioned in the offer letter. Once you have accepted the offer, you would be considered for Float in subsequent rounds provided you have exercised the Float option. If there are vacancies, you may be allotted to an IISER, which is higher in your preference list.

No. Once a candidate is registered and fee payment is completed, refund requests will not be entertained.
You can send the details of your registration and fee paid to ask-jac2023@iisermohali.ac.in with the subject line “IAT extra payment”. Refund will be processed if the fee was received twice for your registration.
The maximum marks in IAT is 240 (60 marks for each of the four sections). The total marks obtained out of 240 is considered for preparing the Rank list.
